This exceptional Kyusu was sculpted by master Sekiryu using Tokoname clay. Tokoname is one of Japan’s six ancient ceramic centers. High-quality ceramics have been produced here since the 12th century. The clay, which has a high natural iron content can be fired due to that fact at up to 1200 degrees Celsius.
This particular Kyusu was given a special look by reduction of the fire and with mogake technique. The mogake technique uses algae to create extraordinary patterns in the ceramics. This pot has a clay sieve and holds 170ml. It is particularly suitable for gyokuro and high quality sencha. For this exceptional teapot we recommend the matching Yuzamashi Sekiryu.
