Kunlu Gushu 2021

Kunlu is one of those tea mountains that immediately creates a certain curiosity. It is not as loud as some of the famous villages, but it has a very special character: elegant, deep and naturally balanced. The old tea gardens of Kunlu are known for large tea trees, a clear mountain aroma and a calm but lasting Cha Qi.

Our Kunlu Gushu Pu-erh was harvested in autumn 2021 and processed in the traditional way. The leaves come from very large old tea trees, which gives the tea its depth, structure and long-lasting aftertaste. This is exactly the kind of material we look for in a serious Gushu Pu-erh: clean, expressive and rooted in its mountain environment.

The autumn harvest gives this tea a slightly softer and more approachable profile than many spring teas. Instead of sharp youthful power, it offers warmth, roundness and a pleasant mellow sweetness. The liquor is clear and golden, with a smooth texture and a calm, elegant body.

In the cup, Kunlu Gushu shows notes of wild honey, dried herbs, soft yellow fruit and a gentle mineral freshness. The bitterness is refined and well integrated, turning quickly into a pleasant Hui Gan. With each infusion, the tea becomes rounder and more open, revealing quiet depth rather than aggressive strength.

This is a Pu-erh for those who appreciate balance, purity and mountain character. It does not need to shout. It speaks slowly, with a deep and steady voice.

Pressed after careful processing and suitable both for drinking now and for further storage, this Kunlu Gushu is an excellent choice for Pu-erh drinkers who enjoy elegant old-tree material with calm energy and a beautifully mature foundation.

Who are Tea Master Panda and Yang Ming?

Tea Masters Panda and Yang Ming are good friends and experts when it comes to Pu-erh. Yang Ming is a local tea farmer of Yiwu and descendants from a family with a long tradition in Pu-erh making. Incidentally, our popular Lucky Bee teas are from Yang Ming’s tea fields. Tea Master Panda is originally from Sichuan (hence his nickname) and came to Yunnan due his passion for Pu-erh tea. In addition to Pu-erh, he is also a Master of calligraphy and has extensive knowledge of Chinese history.
