Organic Genmai-iri Hojicha

Through our friends from Amayama Organic Life we met the boutique producer Nikawa Seicha from Ukiha in Fukuoka. Higuchi, the founding family which has been producing tea for three generations, completely committed themselves to organic farming. This, after the health of the parents worsened and this was attributed to the use of pesticides. Since then the Higuchi family grows in the Mountains of Ukiha a wide selection of tea cultivars entierly organic. The variation of the cultivars prevents monoculture and thus an excessive spread of parasites. Also the harvest period extends notable because the different cultivars sprout at different times.

What we particularly like about this producer is the natural cultivation method and the opportunity to enjoy pure organic teas, including organic Sencha and other Japanese organic green teas. Although blends have their advantages, especially when they have been perfected by masters, we appreciate experiencing the individual characteristics of the tea cultivars in their purest form.

This organic Hojicha is made from roasted Yamakai tea leaves and brown rice and offers a unique taste. A delight for lovers of Japanese organic green tea.
